Cross Country

Towneley Park, Burnley - 25th September 2018

On Tuesday 25th September, some children from Year 5 and Year 6 went to Towneley Park to take on the cross country run. We felt a lot of pressure because of how well the Year 2’s had done in their race so we knew we had to up our game.

The girls’ race was first so Feehan, Alex and Stella took to the start line. The race began and all three girls got off to a great start, powering up the hill, then sprinting downhill and finally pacing themselves for the last stretch. And what a last stretch of race it was with all three girls pushing themselves to finish, Alex in 14th place, Stella in 21st place and Feehan in 23rd place out of 150 girls! Wow! Amazing!

After the girls’ successes, it was the boys turn to show us what they’ve got and the pressure was definitely on! But again they didn’t disappoint taking it all in their stride. Noah even had to battle with one boy near the finishing line, but again due to our pupils’ exceptional manners, Noah lost the battle… but came a fantastic 12th place!!! Luke was the next of our boys back coming in 27th place and then Patrick coming in 45th place out of 140 boys.

Again, What a super race! All our boys did really well and we are proud of you all for taking part and representing our school. Well done to all the team and the parents for their support and side line cheering (we’ll have to get Feehan’s dad some pom-poms next time).
