What a busy couple of days we have had! Following on from our discussions about woodland creatures and with the children enjoying playing with the small world snakes in our leaf tray, yesterday we had a visit from Steve the snake! The children learned about what Steve likes to eat and about his habitat, then the children that wanted to do were able to stroke him. 
Today, we put the leaves that we collected to good use by putting them in our very own hedgehog house! We looked at a plan of our field and decided on the best place to put it so that it wouldn’t be disturbed. We chose a sheltered spot under the trees and filled the house with sawdust and leaves, then covered it with branches to camouflage it. The children had a super time and were very thoughtful when offering their ideas about how to care for animals.
