PARK HILL NURSERY SCHOOL
Our Nursery School opened in 2002. Admission is for children who are three years of age and whose parents wish them to attend St. Joseph’s School.
The Nursery and Reception years are collectively known as the Foundation Stage. The curriculum for this stage is split into six sections – Creative Development; Physical Development; Mathematical Development; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication, Language and Literacy. The children experience a variety of play and practical activities which enable them to achieve their goals within a specific curriculum area. The learning for each area is explained on the parent information board at the entrance to the nursery, and the “Let’s look at” board within the Nursery focuses on a different area each week.
Nursery children have a rest period of 20 minutes each day. Dance and P.E. lessons take place once a week. The before and after school club service is based in the Nursery and can be used as and when required.
Nursery policies and procedures can be seen on request. Children may partake of induction sessions before joining the Nursery. This is arranged with the Headteacher. Parents may stay with the children during these sessions to help them to settle.
