Thank you for your enquiry about St. Joseph's, Park Hill, I hope you will find the information in this prospectus interesting and that you will visit us to find out more about the school. The formative years of a child's education are vital as they provide the foundation for the future, so your choice of school is very important.
St. Joseph's is a small school where our children's happiness is paramount. It is an independent, co-educational Catholic day school founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1913 for children aged 3 to 11 years. It has operated from its present site since 1954.
If you value small classes, an enviable academic reputation, opportunities to partake in sports and music, good discipline, extra curricular activities and after school care, then we may be what you are looking for.
We believe in the traditional approach to learning, and emphasis is placed on providing children with a firm foundation in the basics of English and Math’s. We regard reading as fundamental to the acquisition of knowledge, and children are encouraged to develop a love of books.
Our children are taught to respect and care for each other, and show tolerance to others. Independence and a sense of responsibility are valued and encouraged.
The school is situated within extensive landscaped grounds in a residential area of Burnley. It has a car park, two playgrounds and a large playing field. Our purpose built nursery opened in August 2002.
I am sure you will find that St. Joseph's Park Hill provides high quality education where we hope to make this formative period in your child's life a successful, fulfilling and happy one.
I hope I shall have the pleasure of meeting you.
Yours sincerely,
Sister Joan
