ENGLISH

Word level:  To read and spell words with the spelling patterns ‘oo’, ‘u-e’, ‘ew’, ‘ue’, ‘oa’, ‘o-e’, ‘ow’.

Sentence level: Securing use of full stops and capital letters.  Checking for meaning.  To use other common uses of capitalisation, to add question marks to questions.

Text level: Stories about fantasy worlds, poems with patterned and predictable structures, information texts.

MATHS 

Calculating, measuring and understanding shape

               Answer a question by recording information in lists and tables.

               Estimate, measure, weigh and compare objects using non-standard or standard units.

Securing number facts, relationships and calculating.

               Use the vocabulary related to addition and subtraction and symbols to describe and record addition and subtraction number sentences.

TOPIC – Transport

To begin this topic children will explore their own experiences of transport.  They will investigate the history of transport on land, water and in the air.  Children will use maps to explore journeys and how they could get to different places today.

TOPIC – Forces

Children will observe, describe and compare movements they make and movements of objects in terms of speed or direction.  They will describe how to make a familiar object start moving by pushing or pulling and recognise dangers to themselves in moving objects.
