Reception 2008/2009
On Friday 7th March, Reception class walked from school down to the Cheapside Post Office on Padiham Road. They posted a letter home to their parents that they had written. We had to go into the Post Office to buy the stamps and the Postmaster showed us round the shop and the Post Office. He thought we were all well behaved. When we came back to school we wrote a thank you card to him.
Mrs Tsang came into school to talk about Chinese New Year. Reception class told her all they knew about the year of the Rat.
We sang Chinese songs, made masks and danced and role-played the story of the Wise Princess.
Mrs Tsang did origami with us and we made all different shapes.
Thank you, Mrs Tsang.
The Master Baker, Andy, came from Oddie's Bakery with his helper, Baker Paul.
They showed Reception Class how to taste and smell all the ingredients to make bread. The children all rolled and crumbled the yeast and thought the smell was like 'old potatoes'.
They rolled the dough into squares and each child had a little loaf of bread.
Many thanks to Oddie's who provide us with Bread and a wheat sheaf for the Harvest Assembly each year.
